Implementation in the Regions
Following consultation with service users, carers, NHS and local authority staff and other organisations directly affected by the changes, we have developed a series of Local Implementation Plans (LIPs).
The LIPs detail our co-ordination, support and development roles. They provide a framework for a comprehensive programme of actions to be carried out by various organisations to ensure the smooth implementation of changes set out in the amended Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 (‘Deprivation of Liberty’).
Responsibility for leading and co-ordinating implementation of the LIPs lie with the Mental Health Legislation Leads. Each English region has a Lead in place and available to help and support you.
