Commissioning
Commissioning advocacy for detained patients
The IMHA project is working to improve the quality of advocacy service provision through effective commissioning by developing guidance for commissioners. The guidance developed will focus on what commissioners should look for when commissioning advocacy for detained patients. The guidance will includea model service specification, a service level agreement and an engagement protocol. The commissioning arrangements for England have not been announced yet.
The Welsh Assembly Government has developed IMHA Commissioning Guidance as part of its work to oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Act 2007. It borrows closely from the work developed by the Care Services Improvement Partnership IMHA project in England.
